Thank you, thank you, thank you to staff and volunteers because the Golden Age Center in Tecumseh has been without a site manager. As of this week, we need an assistant cook.
Thank you to the family of Donna Dyke, who made a donation to the center in memory of their beloved family member. The center is a non-profit organization which means that donations are tax deductible. We miss her so much, but life goes on.
Business of the center is being conducted by the site council: President Richard Combs; Vice-president Virginia Upton; and Sec./Treas. Arthenia Haney. Our men and women from the churches who are delivering meals to our homebound members are so appreciated.
Anona Keiffer has been running a route by herself. Thank you, Anona. We could use more churches to help as the route is longer now.
Leota Trice is covering the sign-in, which is vital to keeping us open. Barbara Clemmer, Arthenia Haney, and Joyce Webb are serving meals. Almeda Dyer has kept our plants alive, and her humor has kept us laughing.
Gretchen Conger is our representative to the county commissioners. The McCarleys and Jack Parson offer rides for Rick Gilbert, whom we enjoy having with us each noon hour. Thanks to all the members who have stepped in to help in any way they can, even if I have not mentioned their names. As you can see, it takes a community to keep our doors open.
On Valentine’s Day, Leota Trice was presented with a dozen red roses as a thank you for her 25 years of volunteer service to the Center.
Based on a survey that I took about favorite gifts for Valentine’s Day, flowers won first place. Chocolates and cards tied for second place. Going shopping to pick out a gift or going out to eat at a favorite restaurant were close third place choices.
Hope all had a wonderful day with loved ones. Last of all, I want to thank the City of Tecumseh, that had the foresight to build a community center for seniors, and Project HEART, that provides the meals in-house and to the home-bound.
