Douglas “Doug” K. Freeman, 61, of Tecumseh, OK, died Nov. 4, 2021.
Doug was an electrician by trade and worked for an oil pipeline for 30 years, retiring in Feb. 2021. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, beekeeping, and, more recently, stained glass. He also enjoyed working with his hands on most any project.
At Hilltop Baptist Church he worked with the sound system, and even rewired much of it himself. He also worked with a friend, Harold Daugherty, to take the elementary age kids on fishing trips. When he came to New Hope Baptist Church, he also worked with the sound system, but found a new love. It was here he began teaching Sunday School, taking on a high school boys class. He also would attend Falls Creek every year, working in the kitchen and making his famous biscuits. This cooking talent also extended to helping with the Thanksgiving dinners and men’s prayer breakfasts, something he always looked forward to. At Sharon Baptist Church, he was able to extend his love for teaching and was able to delve into the Word, sharing his passion with his adult class.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Armstrong; his two brothers, Jeff and Mark, with their families; and his wife, Nancy; as well as his daughters, Amber and Bailey; and his grandkids, Daniel, Nicholas, Isaac, and Tesla Joy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Don Freeman; and his step-father, Orland Kay Armstrong.
Donations to Sharon Baptist Church with a note indicating that they are for F.A.I.T.H. Rider pins are requested in lieu of flowers.
The memorial will be held 11 am, Nov. 20, 2021, at Sharon Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Clint Dawkins.
