Michael Parsons receives Brandon Burlsworth award

The annual Bethel High School Football Banquet, sponsored by the BHS Quarterback Club, was held on May 23, wrapping up the 2021 football season with several awards. One honor that stands out is the Brandon Burlsworth Award, which is named after a University of Arkansas student.

SSC basketball coach inducted into Hall of Fame

Seminole State College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Don Tuley was inducted into the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on June 4 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edmond. Tuley has been coaching for 43 years, nine of the years at SSC. His overall record is 708 wins and 308 losses.

Five County Graduates Play In CPN All-Star Bowl

For the second year, graduates from across the state had the chance to play in one last high school football game. Sixty-five players were invited to participate in the Second Annual Citizen Potawatomi Nation All-Star Bowl, held at Oklahoma Baptist University’s Crain Family Stadium on June 3.

Potawatomi Fire Wins First-Round Playoffs

Potawatomi Fire Point Guard Tevin Foster goes to the hoop for two points during the second First-Round Playoff game against the Rockwall 7ers on June 4. The Fire won both games against the 7ers, 111-96 on June 2, and 125-83 on June 4.

Local Teen Enjoys Job As Fire Team Photographer

For Landon Kidney, it has been a short road from amateur photographer to professional photographer and from shooting high school sports to professional sports.

THS Moves Into Summer Sports

Summer vacation has begun for Tecumseh High School, but most sports keeps going through the summer with the exception for OSSAA designated dead times. Football season doesn’t begin until September but the preparation for games has already begun.

Oklahoma Sweeps Texas In All-Star Games

The 56th edition of the Faith 7 Basketball Bowl was played last Saturday at the Noble Complex at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. The Faith 7 Bowl is a cherished tradition in the Shawnee community.

BHS Makes Postseason Run For First Time In Years

The Bethel Wildcats baseball team just wrapped up their most successful season in years after losing in the first round of the Class 3A State Tournament to the Keys Cougars. The Wildcats posted an 18-8 record on the year and a 9-3 record in district play after a 7-21 season in 2021.
