Shawnee Board Of Education Honors Retirees, All-Staters

The Shawnee Public Schools Board of Education recently held three meetings. They called an emergency meeting on April 21, following the extensive tornado damage to schools in the district.

There Is Always A Thrill In The Chasing Of The Giant

For years he has chased tornadoes across Oklahoma, but Wednesday, Apr. 19, William Austin Weaver said the experience was different. Weaver has been chasing tornadoes for 19 years. In a Facebook post, he said, “I have chased dozens of tornadoes across this state over the years.

The Tecumseh City Council Approves 2022 Audit

After a presentation from Casey Russell, CPA, Tecumseh City officials approved the City of Tecumseh 2022 fiscal year audit, including the Tecumseh Utility Authority and the Tecumseh Growth and Development Authority financial statements.
The Barnard Elementary LEGO Savages recently attended the FIRST Robotics LEGO League World Festival in Houston, TX, and received the Coding Award. They received medals and a trophy made from LEGOs. Their Team Mentor Mardesia (Finch) Johnson said, “They met a lot of people from all over the world and also saw some amazing things like Bumble Bee, NASA, and works from Disney and Pixar. It was a world class experience.”

Family Receives Community Help After Tornado

Two days before her 15th birthday, April 19 will live in the memory of Tecumseh freshman Olivia Rawlins forever. It was a milestone no one wants to have: the first time a tornado goes through your yard. “We went into our storm shelter,” said Rawlins.

Kerbs Shares Resources for Tornado Affected Constituents

Rep. Dell Kerbs, R-Shawnee, urged Shawnee residents affected by Wednesday’s tornadoes and severe weather to access available local and state resources. “The destruction suffered in Shawnee and the surrounding community on Wednesday was devastating,” Kerbs said.

Two years ago, Dawson Arnett was the first Tecumseh High School senior to sign a letter of intent for the shooting sports. Fast forward to last month, and he was competing with the Connors State College (CSC) Shooting Sports Team at two national meets.
