Cooks settling in at Shawnee High School

Shawnee High School held a meet and greet for the new duo of Bobby and Tara Cook on July 29th. Community members, students and parents were encouraged to stop by the high school offices for an informal meeting with the new principal and assistant principal joining the team this year.

Child Advocacy Center Funds Approved

County Commissioners approved a $486,350 contract for the Child Advocacy Center during their July 22 meeting. CAC Director K.C. Campbell said the funds were needed due to “significant increase in demand for services” and rising costs since the last funding request two years ago.

The Salvation Army Celebrates “Christmas in July”

Shawnee, OK (July 21, 2025) – The familiar sound of bells will return to Shawnee this summer as The Salvation Army hosts a special “Christmas in July” Red Kettle Campaign on Thursday, July 24, through Saturday, July 26, at Walmart in Shawnee.

'988' Debuts Three years ago

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — July 21, 2025 — This month marks three years since Oklahoma launched 988, the state’s easy-to-remember mental health lifeline.

Presented by Painted Sky Opera as a McLoud Public Library event, the kid-friendly opera was performed at McLoud's American Legion on July 17. In August, Painted Sky Opera will present Mozart's "The Magic Flute" at the Civic Center in OKC.
