County Presents Valor Award To Deputy Knoles

Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners held a couple of interesting meetings over the past week.
Hazel Mack of Shawnee; Kathryn Ashmore of Bethel; Prestynn Neely of Shawnee; and Peyton Neely of Shawnee each won a trophy at the Our Diamond Miss Christmas Pageant, held at Will Rogers Elementary School on Dec. 7. In their age division, Mack won Fashion Queen; Ashmore took Most Photogenic; Prestynn Neely won Most Beautiful; and Peyton Neely got Division Supreme. Countywide & Sun/ Natasha Dunagan

The Tecumseh Police Officers Association Bows of Love Tree continues to grow every Christmas.According to the Countywide & Sun article last year, it had 107 children and 39 families in need of presents. This year, that number has grown to 158 children and 52 families.

Wood Hopes To Continue Making A Difference As The New Sheriff

On Jan. 6, 2025, there will be a new sheriff in Pottawatomie County.But Freeland Wood is no stranger - especially not to Shawnee. Wood has been in law enforcement for 36-and-a-half years, and he enjoys building positive relationships.
