SSC Board Approves Changes To Bereavement Leave

The Seminole State College Board of Regents met on Jan. 18 to discuss changes to the College’s bereavement policy and review the terms of President Lana Reynolds’ employment. The College’s annual Year-in-Review publication was also unveiled during the meeting.

35th Annual PCJLS Pig Roast & Trophy Auction Set for Feb. 5

The 35th Annual Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show Pig Roast and Trophy Auction is 11 days away. This agricultural tradition will return to Fire-Lake Arena on Feb. 5 at 6:30 pm. “We feed approximately 500 - 550 people each year,” said PCJLS organizer Suzanne Gilbert via email.

Earlsboro Holds First “Sorting Ceremony” for Positive Behavior

Earlsboro Elementary School has come up with a unique way to reward good behavior in students. On Jan. 17, about 90 first- through fifth-graders took turns spinning a wheel that sorted them into “families.” Then, they got to go down an inflatable slide and receive their family’s T-shirt.

Shawnee Twin Lakes Master Plan Adopted

During the January 16 meeting, the Shawnee Board of City Commissioners officially adopted the Twin Lakes Master Plan. The Community Development Director, Rian Harkins, presented a slideshow to both the Board and the public, outlining the purpose and goals of the master plan.
