Bethel Band Boosters Hold 7th Annual Car Show

For the seventh year, the western parking lot of Bethel High School was filled with colorful cars, trucks, and motorcycles, and the Bethel Jazz Band could be heard performing.

A $6 Rate Increase Approved For Tecumseh Utilities

Tecumseh City Council officials met last Monday, April 3, for a regular meeting, approving several construction and improvement agenda items. For those who utilize Tecumseh utilities, a $6.00 fee will be added to the monthly utilities payment starting June 30, 2023.

Murl Bowen, of Asher, has led a life dedicated to baseball. He grew up playing baseball in Little League, high school and college. And he achieved great success in the 39 years he coached baseball at Asher High School.
Children in the 7-8 age group pick up plastic eggs during the Tecumseh EGGsperience and Block Party on April 8. The event was organized by volunteers at Tecumseh First Assembly of God and held in the empty lot at South 4th and East Washington streets. Pastor Don Jonker said they were prepared with 7,000 filled plastic eggs, and estimates they hosted between 300 and 350 children. See additional photos on page A7. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan

The Barnard Elementary LEGO Savages received the Core Values Award during a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Qualifying Event at Gordon Cooper Technology Center last fall. Because of that, they have now been invited to represent Oklahoma at the FIRST LEGO League World Festival, in Houston, April 19-22. Later this month, the Barnard Elementary LEGO Savages team will be traveling to Houston, TX, to represent Oklahoma at the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) World Festival.

A new labor and delivery model, Team-Birth, was recently implemented in the Joyful Beginnings department at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee. TeamBirth is an innovative approach to improve communication and teamwork in childbirth and improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Shawnee PD Receives Crisis Grant

The Shawnee Police Department has recently received a Crisis Intervention Team grant from the Department of Justice. The goal of the grant is to place mental health professionals at the scene for first contact with people who are in crisis and to offer referrals to those in need of assistance.
