Board Tours New Elementary, Gibson Sworn In

The Bethel School board toured the new Upper Elementary Building during the meeting held Monday, Apr. 10, but only after regular business was completed. The first order of business was to swear P.J. Gibson into office.

CORRECTION

Oops, we made a mistake and would like to correct the information found in the Tecumseh City Council story last week. It was reported that there would be a $6 increase on the utility bill. We have been informed that the $6 that was approved was not an increase.

Shawnee Public Library Branch Manager Retires

The city of Shawnee and Pioneer Library System are bidding farewell to a friendly face this month. After over three decades of serving Oklahomans, Shawnee Public Library Branch Manager and PLS Regional Coordinator Peggy Cook is set to retire at the end of the month.
Girl Scout members were present at the Shawnee City Commission meeting Monday, Apr. 10 and were presented with the Arbor Day Proclamation presented by Shawnee Mayor Ed Bolt. Bolt said the troop was helpful in planting trees recently distributed in Shawnee. Amendment Approved For Citizen Participation Ordinance

The Shawnee Board of Commissioners passed an ordinance amendment relating to Citizen Participation during meetings at the meeting held Monday, Apr. 17.

“Driving Miss Daisy” will be the finale to Shawnee Little Theatre’s 2022-2023 season, performing April 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29 at 7:30pm, and April 23 at 2:00pm at the community theatre.

Mad Hatter Tea Party Raises Over $8,000 For Programs And Services

The Pioneer Library System Foundation hosted the inaugural Enter Into Our Wonderland: A Mad Hatter Tea Party on Thursday, March 30, at the Lakeside Wedding Venue in Shawnee. The event raised over $8,000 for library programming and services in Pottawatomie County.
