Law enforcement is not for everyone, but for Dakota Etier, it is the job she feels called to. Etier is a Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Division at the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department, and works the child abuse and endangerment cases for children 13 years and younger.

Shawnee Public Schools will have a new multipurpose floor in the Stucker Center. Representatives Aaron Espolt and Todd Boyer appeared before the Pottawatomie County Commissioners Monday, Apr. 18, and received approval to utilize $50,795.13 of the educational sales tax monies for the overlay.

District Attorney Allan Grubb draws two opponents for the Dist. 23 office. Tanya Roland and David Hammer have both thrown their hats in the ring. All three candidates are running on the Republican ticket. There will also be plenty of action in Shawnee municipal races, with three seats contested.

Shawnee Approves Joint Bid On Bonds

The Shawnee Board of Education voted to approve the joint low bid from the Bank of Oklahoma and Vision Bank at an interest rate of 2.85% on the sale of $865,000 in Taxable Building Bonds during a special meeting held on April 7.

SHS National Honor Society Inducts 26 New Members

Twenty-six new members were inducted into Shawnee High School’s National Honor Society chapter during a recent ceremony. NHS President and SHS Senior Lorelei Brem welcomed the new inductees and parents before introducing guest speaker Dr. April Grace, superintendent.
