Tecumseh Public Schools held their monthly school board meeting Oct. 13. The air was thick and the room was somber after a traumatic few days leading up to meeting time. The meeting was pretty standard until it was time for Superintendent Robert Kinsey’s report.

Ronnelle Baker serves up "The House Divided" chili for Kerry Nanaeto, of Shawnee, during the Second Annual Worrell's Haven Chili Cook Off, held in the Shawnee High School parking lot on Oct. 4. The event had an "OU versus OSU" tailgating theme, and attendees could vote on 18 types of chili. This is one of two annual fundraisers for the women's recovery house. Next, they will have Glow-in-the-Dark Bingo in April.

PLS invites community to read, make, explore STEAM

STEAM education plays a critical role in developing problem- solving abilities, collaboration, creativity, and emotional well-being.
David Hibler operates one of the four fully-updated, 1/8-scale diesel locomotives at Locomotive Operators of Central Oklahoma on Oct. 5. LOCO is located on five acres, west of Shawnee Twin Lakes on Lake Drive, and is open on the first Sunday monthly, 1-4 pm. In December, the train club will once again offer their Christmas Light Train Ride on Nov. 29, Dec. 7, Dec. 14, and Dec. 19, beginning at 5:30 pm. In addition to Christmas lights on the trains and along the route, they will have Santa Claus & cocoa.
