It was a busy week at the Capitol

What a week this has been at the Capitol, as it was the final week for bills to be heard in oversight committees. This time typically offers very passionate debates as lawmakers work hard to push their bills closer to the finish line.

Members of the Golden Age Center have enjoyed the spring-like weather after being closed for 4 days during our snows! We thank the volunteers from the area churches that deliver meals to our home-bound members.

Williams reflects on busy week at Capitol

Another full week at the Capitol has come and gone, and I am reminded daily what a privilege it is to serve the people of District 28. This week included time on the House floor reviewing legislation and engaging in debate on issues that matter to our state.

Motherhood

For the past five days, Mr. Right and I were on the front lines of what can only be described as Grandparent Babysitting Bootcamp. Our two grandsons (9 and 5), who conveniently reside next door, were left in our care while their parents took a much-needed, child-free vacation.

Oversight and Oklahoma’s Future

The pace at the Capitol has been steady, and with that pace comes important milestones that shape how legislation moves forward.Last week marked the final week for policy committees and appropriations subcommittees to hear House bills during the Second Session of the 60th Legislature.

Tecumseh Golden Age Center

The Golden Age Center has had a busy week! In addition to our regular meal, our monthly site council business meeting, and weekly Bingo game on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., we had a Valentine celebration.

Celebrating Inspiring Women

International Women’s Day is on March 8. In 1978, Santa Rosa, CA declared a “Women’s History Week” to coincide with that date. President Jimmy Carter expanded the city’s proclamation by declaring the week of Mar. 8 officially “National Women’s History Week.

I believe

This month, I was inspired by the gospel. I attended Bethel AME, where they were celebrating Black History Month.The pastor played a song by Marvin Sapp, 'I Believe,' to help inspire the congregation. Sapp sings, “I believe in myself ‘cause I know I get my help from the power in the sky, I believe.
