This past Thursday, we approved a piece of legislation that represents one of the most exciting, game-changing efforts in economic development and diversification we’ve seen in the history of the state. House Bill 4455 would create the Largescale Economic Activity and Development Act.
Our nation has finally returned to normalcy. Businesses have reopened, kids are back in school, restaurants are busy, and Americans are traveling again – yet the Biden administration is maintaining unnecessary and out-of-date COVID-19 policies.
If you saw me as a child or even a teen, you would see a different person. Always the introvert, I would be watching my feet, quiet as a mouse, and like that mouse, trying to avoid attention. Like many people, my worst fear was public speaking, and singing on a stage would have been a nightmare.

I hit some yard sales this past weekend and bought myself a few things I couldn’t live without -- a set of four “vintage” plastic cups, a used umbrella decorated with cats wearing sunglasses, a t-shirt that I’ll never wear in public because it says a nasty word on the front, and a book.
It was an extremely busy week as we wrapped up committee work on House bills that were approved in their chamber and sent to us for another look. We had about 370 pieces of legislation to review and further approved around 280.
This was a very full week at the House, with lots of groups visiting the Capitol and a packed committee schedule with lengthy agendas. Thursday was the deadline to hear Senate bills in House committees. We started with 327 Senate bills and are left with 271 after the committee process.
