The 79th Annual Maud Roundup Rodeo was held at the Maud Rodeo Arena on July 18-19 and featured mutton bustin', calf scrambles, bareback bronc, saddle bronc, bull riding, team roping, breakaway, and tie down roping.

Shawnee bull riders share similar experiences

In the rough-stock events of the International Finals Youth Rodeo (IFYR), the contestants are mostly from other states. However, there were two cowboys in the bull-riding event performing in their hometown.

Trussell continues rodeo family tradition in steer wrestling

Recent Bethel graduate Dally Trussell is currently in Rock Springs, WY, for the National High School Finals Rodeo as the 2025 Oklahoma High School Steer Wrestling Champion, according to a Bethel High School Facebook post. On July 16, Trussell reported that he got 6.

The 16th Annual SAF World Finals Fishing Tournament

Riley Motrych graduated from North Rock Creek High School in May, but he had another task to complete as a high school student before moving on to Murray State in Tishomingo this fall. In late June, he headed to Grove, OK to fish Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees.

SHAWNEE, Okla. – On the evening of July 6, 2025, the tight-knit community of Shawnee welcomed families from 35 states and provinces under the bright Oklahoma skies as the 33rd edition of the International Finals Youth Rodeo (IFYR) kicked off.
