The City of Shawnee’s Department of Tourism and the Citizen Potawatomi Nation took top honors at the Oklahoma Travel Industry Association’s Red Bud Awards Tuesday, June 14, at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

VBS June 26th through July 1st at Sharon Baptist Church

Vacation Bible School begins Sunday, June 26th, and will run through Thursday, June 30th, from 6:00 pm to 8:45 pm. Friday evening, July 1st, will be Family Night beginning at 6:00 pm in the church sanctuary with a program by the students and refreshments immediately following in the gym.

After torrential rains on the first couple of days of June, we went straight to the HOT and HUMID oven of Oklahoma summers, and while we had mostly clear evening skies, the high humidity did result in less than optimal viewing conditions.

SEFF hosts annual Blues On Broadway

A scaled-down Blues on Broadway drew a small crowd to Tom Terry Park, in Shawnee, on June 18. Unlike last year’s wine-tasting with several winery booths and a beer garden housed under a large tent, this year saw one beer booth and one winery booth.
