Williams Appointed To Education Commission

Rep. Danny Williams, R-Seminole, has been appointed by House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, to serve as a member of the Oklahoma Education Commission. Created through House Bill 2693, authored by Williams, the 17-member commission will research ways to improve the quality of remote learning.

Auto Show Returns Downtown

Downtown Auto Body is hosting its third annual City of 5 Nations Downtown Auto Show and Shine on Saturday, July 16, on Main Street in Shawnee. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m., and the show will be from 8:00 a.m. to noon.

LIHEAP Summer Cooling Program

Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS) began accepting online applications June 28, for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This federally-funded program helps income-eligible families with their summer cooling utility bills and applications are accepted online at OKDHSLive.org.

Gabe Hobbs Grows His Own 4-H County Contest

South Rock Creek 4-H Club President Gabe Hobbs discovered his love of gardening three years ago. It was the same year he joined 4-H and entered a county-wide garden contest for members. It was also the year of the COVID-19 quarantine.
