Sample ballots are now available for the June 28th Election. Voters can download a sample ballot using the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ovp or pick up a copy at the Pottawatomie County Election Board during normal business hours.

Vacation Bible School begins Sunday, June 26th, and will run through Thursday, June 30th, from 6:00 pm to 8:45 pm. Friday evening, July 1st, will be Family Night beginning at 6:00 pm in the church sanctuary with a program by the students and refreshments immediately following in the gym.

After torrential rains on the first couple of days of June, we went straight to the HOT and HUMID oven of Oklahoma summers, and while we had mostly clear evening skies, the high humidity did result in less than optimal viewing conditions.

SEFF hosts annual Blues On Broadway

A scaled-down Blues on Broadway drew a small crowd to Tom Terry Park, in Shawnee, on June 18. Unlike last year’s wine-tasting with several winery booths and a beer garden housed under a large tent, this year saw one beer booth and one winery booth.
Several people walk in the Juneteenth Parade on Shawnee's Main Street, June 18. This was the second year that Juneteenth was a federal holiday, although it has been celebrated since 1866. This year's celebration also included a prayer service, history presentation, domino competition, storytelling, and a program that included musical performances, a fashion show, and speakers. Shawnee Forward also worked with the Dunbar Heights Community to hold a Pickleball Tournament at OBU.

Following this past weekend’s Juneteenth festivities, Mayor Ed Bolt made a proclamation at the Monday evening Commission Meeting that on that day, June 20, the City of Shawnee “Commemorates Juneteenth and the Dunbar Heights Historic Neighborhood.”
