North Rock Creek Seniors Honored

Nine seniors from North Rock Creek were honored Tuesday evening with Academic Letterman Sweaters for holding the top ranking for the Graduating Class of 2023 and being on the Honor’s Diploma Track. NRC would like to thank Brian Nave of Arvest Bank for 100% funding the banquet and sweaters.

Wannette Approved For $800,000 ARPA Funds For Water Woes

The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners approved a request from the Town of Wanette for $800,000 of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) monies to replace water lines. Wanette has been experiencing a lot of issues with the water recently.

Winners Tell The Stories Behind Their Scarecrows

For the past month, scarecrows have been popping up all over Tecumseh. There were 42 entries in the City of Tecumseh Residential Scarecrow Contest, 10 for the Commercial Scarecrow Contest, and four City of Tecumseh Employee Contest scarecrows. On Oct.

Dist. 23 Judge Candidates

The Pottawatomie County Advocates for Voter Education held a forum Thursday, Oct. 27 at City Hall in Shawnee. Candidates for three races were presented to the public, including the two candidates for District 23 Judge, Traci Soderstrom and Joe Dobry.

Shawnee VA Clinic Holds Grand Opening

For the 5,000 veterans in Shawnee and the surrounding area, Oct. 24 has been a long time coming. On that Monday, the Shawnee Veterans Affairs (VA) Outpatient Clinic was open for appointments in the Shawnee Health Plaza, at 3700 N. Kickapoo St., Ste. 100.

Shawnee, Gateway Host Overdose Awareness Event

There is one event this week which could save your life or the life of a loved one. Shawnee Public Schools and Gateway to Prevention are hosting the Overdose Awareness Community Event on Tues., Nov. 1, from 6-8 pm, at the Shawnee High School Performing Arts and Activity Center.
