County Burn Ban Remains In Effect

The county wide burn ban remains in effect, despite the dusting of rain received over the last week. Emergency Management Director Chad Larman said the county is still in a D3 Extreme Drought which is defined as on the U.S.

The Tecums e h School Board approved all agenda items at its October meeting held at the Tecumseh Early Childhood Center on Monday evening. The board also discussed the 3rd grade Reading Sufficiency Remediation results for the 2021- 2022 school year and current district-wide Covid statistics.

First House of Hope Color Fun Run Attracts More Than 135 Participants

The CPN House of Hope hosted their first Color Fun Run on Oct. 1 at the CPN Festival Grounds. Organizer Kayla Woody said 135 people signed up online, but more showed up at the event. They were given T-shirts and medals, while supplies lasted, as well as a colored powder packet.

Last month, there were 75 local high school seniors who applied. But only 37 were chosen to be on the Board - the Shawnee BancFirst Student Board of Directors, that is.

Shawnee Commission Puts Tax Increase On Jan. 23 Ballot

Voters in Shawnee will cast their ballots on a 0.5 percent tax increase in January 2023. After much deliberation at the Monday Oct. 3 Commission meeting the board voted to approve the establishment of a 0.5 percent sales tax.
