County Approves Buddy Anderson As Interim Treasurer

The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to name Buddy Anderson as the interim County Treasurer. In the resignation letter accepted by the board last week, current County Treasurer Wendy Mangus recommended Anderson for the position.

Frontier Days Pageant Brings Musical Number Back

After the recognition of 9/11 and the Pledge of Allegiance, the Frontier Days Pageant opened with a musical number called “Western Boogie.” Eighteen contestants in the Tot, Junior and Miss divisions danced to a country song, dressed in western attire.

TPS Approves Upgrades For Transportation Safety

Tecumseh School Board approved new software that will notify parents and guardians when bus riders get off the bus. The board convened at the Early Childhood Center on Monday, Sept. 12, to discuss and vote on various school policies for the 20222023 school year.

Aerospace, eSports Programs Successful

Two new programs at Shawnee High School were reported on by Principal Matt Johnson at the Shawnee Board of Education meeting, Sept. 12. Johnson said the Aerospace program has 41 students who can either learn to be a certified drone pilot or a certified aircraft pilot.
