It’s not just kids who attend summer camp. It’s also for those who love to sew and quilt. Thirty members of Shawnee’s Spinning Spools Quilt Guild recently attended their tri-annual Quilt Camp, June 24-26 from 8 am-10 pm, at the Shawnee Masonic Lodge.

Thomas & Barbara Smith are celebrating 50 years of marriage. The Smith’s were married in Carthage, MO July 3, 1972. The couple moved to Shawnee in June of 1972. Together, their family boasts eight children, 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and four great-greatgrandchildren.

SSC Upward Bound Programs Receive Grant Renewal

Seminole State College recently received notification from the U.S. Department of Education of the renewal of two federal Upward Bound grants. Together, Upward Bound I and Upward Bound II will receive over $3.4 million in grant money over the next five years, beginning in September.
