Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan Slashes Fees

State Treasurer Randy McDaniel today announced a 20-percent reduction in the management fee for the Oklahoma 529 College Savings Plan (OCSP). This reduction is expected to save Oklahoma families owning OCSP accounts more than $500,000 per year.

Avedis Foundation Announces Leadership Institute Grant Recipients

The Avedis Foundation has announced the 2021 recipients of a collection of resources for the advancement of area nonprofits.

Tecumseh Middle School Student Qualifies For All-State

Waiting for the text message was intense for Jax Johnson and his parents, Jay and Mandy Johnson. “I open it and my eyes just shoot up and (my mother) gets up. She just wraps her arms around me and he’s over here, ‘you made it, you made it, you made it!’” Jax Johnson said.

Cirque Italia’s Water Circus Swings Into Town This Weekend

By KENDRA JOHNSON Bright lights, radiant water, sparkling costumes, and one big tent—the circus is coming to Shawnee, OK, Nov. 25-28. Cirque Italia’s Water Circus Gold unit will park its tent on the grounds of the Heart of Oklahoma Expo for four days of live performances.

SSC Leadership Development Class Organizes A Food Drive

The Seminole State College Leadership Development class organized and collected donations for the SSC Food Pantry and the Shawnee area Salvation Army from Oct. 21 to Nov. 1. Approximately 400 canned and boxed food items along with health products were donated.
