Hip-Hoppin’ Summer Fun At The Tecumseh Public Library

The Tecumseh Public Library is hip-hopping with fun these past summer weeks. As part of its Summer Learning Challenge, the library hosted a hip-hop dance class on Wednesday, June 28. Jesus Martinez, an instructor at RACE Dance Collective, came to teach the teens how to breakdance.

The annual Earlsboro Alumni Reunion was held Saturday, June 10, 2023 in the Wes Jeske Auditorium. Earlsboro Days sponsored by the Town of Earlsboro was held the same day. There was a car show, food, crafts, and music on Main Street.

Ronald Young, of Shawnee, doesn’t consider himself a poet. He wasn’t inspired to write until six years ago. At that time, he needed a present for his golfers’ group’s “dirty Santa” gift exchange party, and he decided to write an acrostic poem for the host couple.

Dr. Bob Evans, DVM, grew up on a farm in Perkins and helped to work land in Lincoln County. His father was a vocational agriculture teacher, and his mother was a teacher, as well.
Retired Asher Baseball Coach Murl Bowen was recently one of three honored at a Silo baseball game for being in the top 10 with the most wins nationwide. The other two were his nephews, Billy Jack Bowen and Randy Bowen. The elder Bowen had an all-time record of 2,115-349 from 1959 to 1998. Murl Bowen, of Asher, has led a life dedicated to baseball. He grew up playing baseball in Little League, high school and college. And he achieved great success in the 39 years he coached baseball at Asher High School.
The Barnard Elementary LEGO Savages received the Core Values Award during a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Qualifying Event at Gordon Cooper Technology Center last fall. Because of that, they have now been invited to represent Oklahoma at the FIRST LEGO League World Festival, in Houston, April 19-22. The team includes Jude LaChappell, Stetson Smith, Emory Cox, Cameron Thompson, Austin Qualls and Landon Williams, plus Team Mentor Mardesia Finch. Photo provided.

Her doctor told her she wouldn’t be able to walk for six months, and she probably wouldn’t be able to run for eight months. But Bethel High School athlete Hannah Davidson beat those odds. The accident happened on July 4, 2021, when Davidson was tubing on Shawnee Lake.

Brooklyn Duff has been playing softball since she was three years old in Wee Ball. She is now a junior at Bethel High School and a shortstop and utility player on the varsity softball team. Duff also plays for the Oklahoma Pure FastPitch 18U travel ball team.
