Six Area Athletes Join 1,000-Point Club: Two SHS Teammates Break Records

Teamwork is essential to winning in basketball, but the team can also bring out the best in its star players. This is especially true for six athletes from high schools in Pottawatomie County who reached the “1,000-Point Club” milestone this season.

Bethel Lady Wildcats End Season At State
The Bethel Lady Wildcats basketball season came to an end last Wednesday, March 9th but not before the Lady Wildcats made it all the way to the State Tournament.

Lady Pirates Lose Semifinal During Overtime
It was a tough finish to a great year for the Dale Lady Pirates round ballers. The Dale ladies advanced all the way to the State Tournament Semifinals before ending the season with a heartbreaking 63-62 overtime loss to Pocola last Friday.

The Bethel Lady Wildcats traveled to Ada for the first round of the Area Tournament on Friday, Mar. 4.
The Jones Lady Longhorns took the lead in the first quarter of the tournament’s first round and kept the pressure on, outscoring Bethel through the first three quarters of the game.

Lady Savages End Successful Season In Area Play

A very successful season ended in the Area Tournament last week for the Lady Savages with a loss to Fort Gibson, an eventual State Tournament team. Fort Gibson came into the playoffs as the #8 ranked team in 4A and lived up to their reputation as a defensive heavyweight.

Shawnee wrestlers Spencer Rochelle, Logan Cash, and Sam Anderson placed at the OSSAA Class 5A State Wrestling Tournament on Feb. 25-26. Rochelle placed third in the 170-pound weight class; Cash placed third in the 220-pound weight class; and, Anderson placed fourth in the 195-pound weight class.
