Lady Indians’ Battle Varnum: A Tough Start to the New Year

Asher Lady Indians played Varnum on Jan. 2 and took on the Lady Whippets in the first game after the New Year. The first half of the game was a battle, with the first quarter ending in a 10-10 tie. The Lady Whippets managed a one-point lead at half, Asher 22 and Varnum 23.

The Savages traveled to the Verdigris Tournament last Thursday, Friday and Saturday to face some tough teams and came back with three losses to open the post-Christmas schedule. Tecumseh faced Wagoner and lost to begin the tournament.

Asher Indians Have Thrilling Back-to-Back Fourth Quarter Victories

The Asher Indians had two fourth-quarter, come-from-behind wins last week. In the Tuesday, Jan. 2 road game against Varnum, the Whippets jumped ahead with an 18-11 lead by the end of the first quarter. By the end of the first half, the Indians still trailed, 27-21.
