TPS Fills Last Empty Seat, Enrollment Set For July 25

The first order of business for the Tecumseh School Board at the July meeting was to convene into executive session to discuss candidates for Seat 5. After a little over an hour, they returned to open session and swore in Shane Brown to fill the last open seat on the board.

Shawnee Begins Pressure Pave Project, Five Streets Scheduled

The City of Shawnee is excited to announce the most visible phase of the “Pressure Pave” project!The $2.07 million project, which the City Commission approved on November 20, 2023, will rehabilitate about 18 lane-miles of roadway that will be repaired through a micro-surfacing technique.

PAVE Forum Scheduled, County Commissioners July 29

PAVE (Pottawatomie Advocates for Voter Education) host two runoff election candidate forums before the Aug. 27 election.The first forum will feature county commission candidates Scott Hawkins and incumbent Greg Rush, and will take place on July 29 at 7 pm in the Shawnee City Commission Chambers.

County’s Emergency Management Director Accepts New Job

Emergency Management Director Chad Larman has accepted a new job and will soon be leaving the Director position. However, he did state he would still be volunteering.Larman said he had turned down other offers from the same employer, but this time they made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

Broadway Resurfacing Bid Awarded

The Tecumseh City Council held a special meeting at 4:00 on July 15. The one discussion and action item on the agenda regarded accepting a bid for the resurfacing of Broadway Street and W. Washington Street. Three bids were considered; the lowest one was accepted.
