Congresswoman Stephanie Bice presented a $13.5 million check to the City of Shawnee on Friday, Mar. 13. The Community Project Funding (CPF) Grant is to strengthen Runway 17/35 and rehabilitate the airport’s taxiways, according to a press release received Monday, Mar. 16.

DALE PIRATES WIN 5TH STRAIGHT 2A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Shawnee City Commission recognized the Grove Basketball Girls for winning the school's first State Championship. The tournament was hosted by North Rock Creek on Feb. 14. In the first round, they beat Woodall (who had won 14 of the last 16 titles) in the second round, they beat Lone Star, who had beat them twice earlier in the season; they won the Championship game against Marietta 46-22. Shown next to Mayor Eric Stephens is Jacelyn Fichtner, Parker Lilley & Evie Scott with their coach, Chris Pingry.
