Ladan Moratoria, Ed Bolt, Petya Stefanoff, Chris Odneal, David Henry and Kevin Kalies took a walk in the Dunbar Heights area on Nov. 18 to document the safety concerns for pedestrians. Most of the safety walks that have taken place in Pottawatomie County have occurred during the day.

Avedis grant expands access to hearing aids

The Avedis Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to Hough Ear Institute (HEI) in support of its program, which provides free, high-quality hearing aids and follow-up audiological care to low-income adults.

Shawnee Rec Center's closing out fall and bringing on Christmas

We have enjoyed seeing some of the autumn hues in our Shawnee Parks, and I hope you get to enjoy the outdoor sites while the weather allows!Last weekend our Fall Youth Volunteer Program completed a capstone project at the Rotary Briscoe Boy Scout Park by adding a sidewalk chalk obstacle course.
