Commissioner Melissa Dennis to seek re-election

Incumbent Pottawatomie County Commissioner Melissa Dennis announced that she will be a candidate for re-election in 2026. Dennis has served as Commissioner for District 1 since 2011. She is a Republican.“It is an honor to serve the people of my district and the county.

The City of Shawnee, in partnership with Downey Contracting, has officially broken ground on the new Shawnee Animal Welfare Shelter. This project represents a significant step forward in enhancing animal care and welfare services for the Shawnee community. Blankinship waives rights to preliminary hearing

A man who was arrested by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents several month ago and was formally charged in Pottawatomie County District Court with seven sex-related felonies against minors has waived his preliminary hearing on all seven original charges filed against him.
Ally Fichtner was named HOSA (Future Health Professionals) State Officer. Fichtner is a junior at NRC High School and is President of her Health Careers class at Gordon Cooper Technology Center. Ally plays both school and club volleyball, golf, cross country and track.

OBU Theatre Presents Louisa May Alcott’s “Little Women”

The Oklahoma Baptist University Theatre program will present “Little Women,” adapted by Marisha Chamberlain from Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel. Performances will take place in Sarkeys Black Box Theatre on November 6, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m.; November 9 at 2:30 p.m.
