PLS invites community to read, make, explore STEAM

STEAM education plays a critical role in developing problem- solving abilities, collaboration, creativity, and emotional well-being. PLS is proud to provide an array of activities to strengthen these skills and provide pathways toward careers in STEAM-related fields.
David Hibler operates one of the four fully-updated, 1/8-scale diesel locomotives at Locomotive Operators of Central Oklahoma on Oct. 5. LOCO is located on five acres, west of Shawnee Twin Lakes on Lake Drive, and is open on the first Sunday monthly, 1-4 pm. In December, the train club will once again offer their Christmas Light Train Ride on Nov. 29, Dec. 7, Dec. 14, and Dec. 19, beginning at 5:30 pm. In addition to Christmas lights on the trains and along the route, they will have Santa Claus & cocoa.

LOCO Upgrades Track, Engines

Along with the rustle of leaves in the autumn trees, just west of Shawnee Twin Lakes, one can also hear the “clickety-clack” of trains running along metal rails.If so, you may be on Lake Drive, spending an afternoon at the five-acre Locomotive Operators of Central Oklahoma (LOCO) facility.

Tecumseh Approves Sewer Increase, Road Grant Funding

The Oct. 6 Tecumseh City Council meeting was a short one, lasting less than 45 minutes.A discussion was had to clarify, then approve a 5% base rate increase for city sewer usage. The current rate of $22.00 will be increased to $23.10. This is for sewer only; water rates will remain the same.
