Over 100 automobiles line the streets for the Downtown car show

After the rains cleared on Saturday, June 14, nearly 100 registered vehicles—and about 20 more unregistered—filled the stretch of Main between Beard Street and Kickapoo Avenue for the annual Downtown Auto Body at Sundown Car Show in Shawnee. The following is a list of the winners: Why Not?

McCall Talks Infrastructure, Education, and Trust in Government

After joining the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce and Shawnee Forward members for a legislative luncheon, former Speaker of the House and current candidate for Governor Charles McCall stopped by the Countywide & Sun for a visit.McCall is a fifth-generation Oklahoman.
Shawnee Public Library Children's Librarian Jairo Montelongo gives change to Hadley Blake, 10, of Bethel, during the 'Pet Cents' event on June 14. Using play money, Blake bought an ostrich for her pet, and Brylynn Pointer, 11, of Shawnee, bought a giraffe. Montelongo said the library received an American Library Association grant to teach children how to manage finances. Their next event, Making Moo-La, will be on June 21 at 10:30 am.

Weather Prevents Flag Retirement Ceremony, Flag Day Indoor Ceremony Continued

Stormy weather caused half of the Flag Day Ceremony at the Tecumseh American Legion Post #260 to be canceled. The collection of old flags could not be retired to fire, but the indoor portion went as scheduled.
