County Superintendents discuss benefits of the Education Sales tax

Citizens of Pottawatomie County will have the opportunity to make the half-cent Education Sales Tax permanent on April 1, 2025. The Countywide & Sun has begun visits with the 14 school district superintendents in the county to hear why this tax is beneficial for the schools and the students.

Tecumseh Lady Savages Start Season With A 6-1 Record

It’s been a good start for the Lady Savage Fast Pitch team. The T-Town ladies have started the season with a 6-1 record, with their only loss to 6A Edmond Santa Fe.

Chief J.R. Kidney Speaks At T.A.G. Meeting

National Police Week began on Sunday, May 14. And to learn more about that and the Tecumseh Police Department, members of the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce met at the police station on May 11 for their monthly Tecumseh Area Guides (TAG) meeting. Tecumseh Police Chief J.R.

The event was held at the Tecumseh High School track this year, due to tornado damage at Shawnee High School's Jim Thorpe Stadium. Kiwanis Club's Little Olympics Held at Tecumseh High School Track

South Rock Creek School fourth-grade students use upper and lower body strength in the tug o’ war during the Kiwanis Club’s Little Olympics on March 12. The event was held at the Tecumseh High School track this year, due to tornado damage at Shawnee High School’s Jim Thorpe Stadium.
Children in the 7-8 age group pick up plastic eggs during the Tecumseh EGGsperience and Block Party on April 8. The event was organized by volunteers at Tecumseh First Assembly of God and held in the empty lot at South 4th and East Washington streets. Pastor Don Jonker said they were prepared with 7,000 filled plastic eggs, and estimates they hosted between 300 and 350 children. See additional photos on page A7. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan

Lady Savages Ranked #3 In 5A

The Lady Savages Slow Pitch team is #3 in class 5A with a record of 13-4 as of this past Monday. Tecumseh had seven straight wins last week before falling on Friday to Bartlesville. On Monday night of last week, the Lady Savages went on the road to Purcell to meet Blanchard and the home team.

Savages Come Up Short In Title Game

Tecumseh’s round ballers fought hard last Friday night in the District title game as they hosted a Crossings Christian team with a record of 18-2 but came up short in the end and dropped to the Consolation Regional Bracket beginning today (Thursday).

Lady Savages Tip Off At Regionals Tonight

The Lady Savages are District Champs and headed to Regionals in the winners’ bracket today (Thursday) at Crossings Christian in Oklahoma City. The T-Town ladies hosted the Crossing Christian ladies at Tecumseh last Friday night and pummeled the Knights to claim the title.
