Flowers Plants Himself as New McLoud Ag Teacher After 14-Year Hiatus

As with the seasons in farming, the Flowers family has been going through a time of transition and new beginnings.Sarah Flowers, who was active in FFA during high school, taught in Tecumseh for six years before serving as the Tecumseh Middle School principal for another six years.

Tecumseh Senior Wins First At JNHE Speech Contest

Taylor Marrs, who will be a senior at Tecumseh High School this year, has been competing in the Junior National Hereford Exposition speech contest since he was 10 years old in 2017.This year, he won first place in the 25th Annual JNHE Advanced Speech Contest Intermediate Division.

Bethel 10-Year-Old Finds Success At State Limousin Show

The 14th Annual Ron Whalen Memorial Limousin Field Days and OK Junior Cattlemen’s Association Summer Preview Show was held in Stillwater on May 30 and June 1. And, for Bethel 10-year-old Taycie Baker, it was an event to remember.

Tecumseh Grad Is Third Generation State FFA Degree Recipient

Tecumseh 2024 Graduate Maci Flowers was born into FFA. Her father, Steve Flowers, was an Agriculture instructor in schools like Timberlake and Prague when she was younger.

Bethel Freshman Named 2023 National ATA Rookie Of The Year

Corley Steward, a freshman at Bethel High School, took aim at a goal and hit her mark in January.The first time she shot a gun was in Sept. 2022 at age 13, and only 16 months later, she was named the 2023 National Amateur Trapshooting Assoc. (ATA) Rookie of the Year.

4-H Excused Absences Signed By Governor

OKLAHOMA CITY – Gov. Stitt on Tuesday signed House Bill 1006 into law, which will grant 4-H students an excused school absence when participating in an approved activity.The bill’s author, Rep.

Tecumseh Ag Student Ready To Show Calf Purchased With Quiz Bowl Winnings At PCJLS

Two years ago, Tecumseh sophomore Sawyer Speers was one of 26 Pottawatomie County high school students to participate in the First Annual Cattlemen’s Association Beef Quiz Bowl.He placed sixth and received $900. With that money, he bought a Commercial bred heifer.

35th Annual PCJLS Pig Roast & Trophy Auction Set for Feb. 5

The 35th Annual Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show Pig Roast and Trophy Auction is 11 days away. This agricultural tradition will return to Fire-Lake Arena on Feb. 5 at 6:30 pm. “We feed approximately 500 - 550 people each year,” said PCJLS organizer Suzanne Gilbert via email.
