Outdoor Nation Expo To Host OK Deer Hunting Conference

Attention all outdoors enthusiasts or those wishing to learn, the Outdoor Nation Expo (ONE) will be held for the sixth year at FireLake Arena in Shawnee on Aug. 11-12. And, this year, it will be held in conjunction with the Oklahoma Deer Hunting Conference.

Pack the School Helps More than 200 Teachers With School Supplies

A long line of teachers from around the county formed outside Shawnee’s First United Bank - Harrison branch Community Room on Aug. 1. They were patiently waiting to “shop” at the Second Annual Pack the School Teacher Supply Stop, held from 11 am to 1 pm.

Expo Not Prepared For Rodeo

Let’s talk about the IFYR and the Expo. The event brings in competitors from all over the United States. High school kids with their families . ll the town, spending money on neces- sities like groceries, feed, and fuel.
A 1955 Chevrolet Belair, owned by J.R. Lloyd of Shawnee, and a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, belonging to Shane and Vivian Brown of Shawnee, were two of the vehicles at the monthly Cruise the Poo 2.0 on July 29. They met at The Brown Derby, which reopened on July 26 after recovering from tornado damage. Their original radios could not be replaced, so orders will now be taken using a QR Code, by phone or at the walk-up window, as seen on menus in front of each stall.

Junior Volunteer Program Returns

After a three-year hiatus, the junior volunteer program at SSM St. Anthony Hospital - Shawnee is back for the summer. Due to COVID, the program was put on pause. “We are excited to have the teens back with us this summer,” said Cheryl Hudgens, Director of Service Lines, SSM Health St.

There was a street fair which featured inflatables, food trucks, 12 vendors, four bands who played outside, and a VIP concert inside at the Ritz featured three musical acts and a comedian.

Hope Concert Raises $10K For Shawnee's Tornado Recovery

Just over $10,000 was raised for Shawnee’s tornado recovery during the Hope on the Horizon Benefit Concert and Street Fair on July 21. Held at The Ritz and the corner of Main and Broadway, the event was both a fund-raiser and an introduction to Rose Rock Habitat for Humanity (HOH).
