County Commissioner Retiring After 35 Years Of Public Service

Pleasant Grove Public Schools will have new rubber mulch for the playground and a new portable stage thanks to the Pottawatomie County half-cent educational sales tax. The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners approved both purchases during the meeting Tuesday, Feb. 21.

City Board Approves Budget Increase For Expo Center

Two things involving the Shawnee Civic and Cultural Development Authority occurred Tuesday evening during the Shawnee City Commission meeting. First, the board approved the appointment of Mark Sehorn to the mediation team for the City. Sehorn will fill the seat left vacant by Ben Salter.

In last week’s issue of The Countywide & Sun, we ran an article about the demolition of the former Gibson’s Discount Center building at 1 W. Main in Shawnee and the accidental collapse of the Past to Present Marketplace at 7 W. Main.

The City of Shawnee Commission Meeting on Tuesday evening, Feb. 21, was one packed with several ordinance changes and more. First, a vote was made by the Board to create, amend, and repeal parts of the Chapter 7 building codes.
