Tecumseh Approves Plan To Fill Vacant Seat

The Tecumseh Public Schools Board approved a plan to fill the vacant seat during its meeting held Monday, June 12. The Board has until its July 10 regular meeting to fill seat number 2 which is open after the tragic death of Board President Shawn Fleming.

Livestrong Program Graduates Form Strong Bonds

The six women honored at First United Bank’s Harrison branch in Shawnee on June 8 were already strong. They had all survived breast cancer, and one is still fighting. But together, they have formed bonds of friendship no one can break, making them stronger.

Summer Reading Program Kicks Off At The Park

Tecumseh Public Library has officially started its Summer Reading Challenge. The kick-off was held at Slick Humphrey Park on Thursday, June 1. Tinker Federal Credit Union sponsored free snow cones to those who signed up for the reading challenge.

City Council Discusses Marijuana Use In City Park

Mayor Eddy Parker requested the Council discuss the use of marijuana in city parks, as he has received numerous complaints of strong marijuana smells from Tecumseh citizens. The Council agreed to look into adding new signage around the parks clearly banning the use of any marijuana products.
About 58 bicyclists from all over Oklahoma take off on the Fenrir Unchaind bike race, starting in front of spOKeLAHOMa in Tecumseh, on June 3. Participants could choose from four distances: 39, 70, 140 and 210 miles. Ryan Roggow of Shawnee placed first in the 210-mile “Ragnarock” race. Craig McIntyre, co-owner of spOKeLAHOMA, said there were 95 people who registered from five states and New England. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan
