The Lady Redskins made their first appearance in the State Basketball Tournament in school history, cheered on by the McLoud Student Section. McLoud junior Claire Mapira sinks her shot during the Class 4A State Quarterfinal game against Harrah, at the OG&E Coliseum in OKC on March 10. Bethel freshman Sicilie Lomeli placed fourth in her weight class during the State Wrestling Finals, held at the OG&E Coliseum on Feb. 28. She is the first freshman state placer in Bethel history.

McLoud's Remy Whitney jumps into her dad's/coach's arms after winning her State Final match on Feb. 28. Her father, Coach Chad Whitney, was also named Class 5A Girls Coach of the Year, making them the fourth father-daughter duo in state history to both win individual state titles, according to Oklahoma Wrestling.

Mcloud Girls: Back-to-Back State Champs

Last year, McLoud’s Lady Redskins Wrestling Team won the State Championship for the first time.This year, they not only returned to win the Class 5A State Championship, but they broke a record while they were at it.

Lady Savages season ends

The Lady Savages ended the season at Regionals against Ada, but the T-Town ladies didn’t go down easy.Early in the game, it lookded like Tecumseh would end the year without a fight and was down, 19-6, at the end of the first quarter. They were in a deep hole at halftime trailing, 279.

McLoud hosts THS at Regionals

The Tecumseh basketball squad went to the end of the Regional Tournament before bowing out for the season.The Savages were sent to the consolation bracket in Regionals and the T-Town boys battled as long as they could.

THS wrestler medals at State

Tecumseh Wrestling sent five grapplers to the State Tournament, and one came back with hardware. Kylei Gokey, a two time State Qualifier, finished in fourth place at 140-pounds for the Lady Savages in Girls 5A State Wrestling Championships.

THS Celebrates football and softball signings

On Feb. 4, Tecumseh senior Braxton Shelton signed a letter of intent to play football with Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell.Shelton had three other offers to consider before settling on Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
