County donates law enforcement gear, discusses attorney’s tort claim

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office has donated equipment to several neighboring law enforcement agencies. The Pottawatomie County District Attorney’s Office received four guns, while the McLoud Police Department was given a set of spike strips.

Laurence Bradley “Brad” Hawkins graduated from Maud High School in 1988, and he has now returned to serve as Maud Public School’s superintendent.When asked how his alma mater has changed since then, Hawkins said it hasn’t changed a lot, except for lower enrollment, which stands at about 215.

The McLoud City council approved waiving the $5 dog tag fees for two months. Lisa Lempges with the McLoud Public Library spoke to the board and offered to pass out the pet registration forms to help encourage citizens to turn them in during this fee-free time period.
