Honoring Those Who Gave All

Memorial Day is a holiday to honor those men and women who died while serving our country, and that is exactly what happened this past Memorial Day.Ralph “Rowdy” Butler said, “You know it is Memorial Day weekend. Everybody is out at the lake doing hotdogs, burgers, and everything else.
An honor guard led by members of the American Legion Post 260 gives an 18-gun salute during the Memorial Day service at Tecumseh Cemetery on May 27. There were also wreaths placed for each military branch and the emergency responders. Rev. Paul Fletcher, with Northridge Church of Christ in Shawnee, and State Senator Shane Jett spoke, as well as Post Adjutant Bill Gammage. Service At Tecumseh Cemetery

Shawnee To Apply For $5 Million FEMA Disaster Loan To Aid In Recovery From 2023 Tornado

Even with the public hearing of the proposed 2024-2025 budget and 2025-2029 Five-Year Capitol Improvement Plan, the Monday meeting of the Shawnee Board of City Commissioners was finished by about 8 pm.A few citizens spoke in opposition to both.

Asher Schools To Pay Off School Gym Lobby

The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners meeting agenda listed 60 items, but the meeting ended in approximately 30 minutes.Asher Public Schools will utilize funds from its portion of the education tax funds to pay of a lease purchase for the lobby at the school gym.
