Meet the Candidates

Four candidates are vying for the position of Mayor: the incumbent Ed Bolt, Edwina Butler-Wolf, Rob Morris, and Eric Stephens. The Pottawatomie Advocates for Voter Education (PAVE) held a forum on Monday, May 13, and all four candidates participated.

SHS Inducts 25 Into National Honor Society

Twenty-five sophomore students at Shawnee High School were recently inducted into the school’s chapter of National Honor Society.Students who had completed at least three semesters of coursework at SHS and had met certain academic criteria were invited to apply for NHS.

Avedis Announces Health Care Week 2024 Details

(Shawnee, OK) — Avedis Foundation has announced details for Health Week 2024, which will take place throughout Shawnee from May 28-June 1.Health Week is an annual event that features activities throughout Shawnee for all age groups. All Health Week activities are free and open to the public.

SSC Hosts Lloyd Simmons Field Dedication

Seminole State College held the dedication ceremony of Lloyd Simmons Field on May 3 at the Brian Crawford Memorial Sports Complex.Beginning in October of 2023, Trojan baseball alumni spearheaded efforts to commemorate Simmons by raising funds to name SSC’s home field in his honor.
