Bethel Hosts First Annual Shooting Sports Invitational

Bethel FFA has had a shooting sports team for about eight years. But, as of Friday, Sept. 22, they now have their own event: the Bethel FFA Shooting Sports Invitational.

Missing Person, Now Homicide Case

On Saturday, Sept. 16, Makayla Byers was reported missing. For a week, law enforcement, friends, and family continued to search for her. The following Wednesday, a 911 call reported a body in a culvert just off Hamilton Road. Friday, the body was identified as 30-year-old Makayla Byers.

Mickey is one of many who fell on hard times and is now one of the many unhoused. She is a caregiver for others and tries to keep the peace in the camp where she stays. Mickey was born in Shawnee. She said her grandpa worked at the hospital, and her dad was a fireman. She studied to be a lab tech.

The Citizen Potawatomi Nation broke ground on a new hotel and casino on Thursday, Sept. 14. Chairman John ‘Rocky’ Barrett welcomed guests to the groundbreaking ceremony with a prayer in the Potawatomi language.
