CVEC To Host Annual Flag Retirement Ceremony

Seminole, Okla – Canadian Va l ley Electric Cooperative, alongside the Seminole American Legion, will conduct its annual flag retirement ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Food will be served at 5 pm, and the ceremony will begin at 6 pm.

County Discusses Pumper Tanker Bid And Rodeo Plans

The Brooksville Fire Department is actively searching for a pumper tanker. Shane Colley has noted finding a good used vehicle has been challenging. “We haven’t had much luck. The quotes we’ve received range from $300,000 to $800,000, which is far beyond our budget,” Colley said.

MGMoA Director Dane Pollei Receives Prestigious Statewide Award

Shawnee, OK—Dane Pollei, Director and Chief Curator at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art (MGMoA), has been honored with the President’s Award at the Oklahoma Museum Association (OMA) conference held at the Museum of the Red River in Idabel, Oklahoma.

First Shawnee Female BMX Racer To Be Inducted In OK BMX HOF

When Cindy (Cooper) Parsons was 11 and growing up in 1970s Shawnee, she knew what she wanted and what she didn’t.What she wanted was to race in BMX (bicycle motocross) like her brothers, Shawn and Rodney Cooper, and stepbrothers, Pat and Ronnie Qualls.
There were 41 contestants in the Frontier Days Pageant, held in the "New Gym" at Tecumseh Middle School on Sept. 22. The oldest category, Miss Frontier Days, will be crowned before the Frontier Days Parade in front of Tecumseh City Hall at 9:30 am on Sat., Sept. 28. (See full caption below.)

Shawnee Senior Chosen For OK HOF Teen Board

In a press release from the Oklahoma Hall of Fame on Sept. 12, they announced their selection of “50 high school students from 32 high schools statewide to serve on the 2024-25 Oklahoma Hall of Fame Teen Board.
