Three Different Types Of Homeless People

Mickey is one of many who fell on hard times and is now one of the many unhoused. She is a caregiver for others and tries to keep the peace in the camp where she stays. Mickey was born in Shawnee. She said her grandpa worked at the hospital, and her dad was a fireman. She studied to be a lab tech.

Legacy Parenting Partners With Tecumseh For National Diaper Week

National Diaper Need Aware n e s s Week began on Monday, Sept.18, and runs through Sun., Sept. 24. To help fill the need, 37 Community Diaper Drive Drop-Off Locations at businesses and churches in Shawnee and Tecumseh have popped up to accept donations.

County Approves Purchase Of New Buses For Tecumseh

It was a short meeting for the Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners on Monday, Sept. 18. The board approved the purchase of four new 71- passenger buses with a/c and one new special needs bus with a/c through a state contract from Holt Truck Centers.

The City of Shawnee Charter Amendments have been approved by Gov. Kevin Stitt and became effective Sept. 5.

CPN Breaks Ground On A New Casino And Hotel

The Citizen Potawatomi Nation broke ground on a new hotel and casino on Thursday, Sept. 14. Chairman John ‘Rocky’ Barrett welcomed guests to the groundbreaking ceremony with a prayer in the Potawatomi language.

Dance Added To Farmhand Olympics In 14th Year

Since 2009, the Farmhand Olympics have been a way for agriculture students across Pottawatomie County to have fun together in friendly competition before showing their livestock or exhibits at the Pott. Co. Free Fair. This year, on Sept. 6, the Junior Fair Board members decided to add a dance.

Tecumseh Frontier Days Pageant Registers 41 Contestants

Tecumseh’s 46th Annual Frontier Days Pageant kicks off the Frontier Days events on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 3 pm at the Tecumseh High School Alumni Building. Registration for the pageant ended Sept. 6, with 41 contestants registered to compete.
