Short Agenda For County

It was a very short meeting of the Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners Monday, Aug. 28. Emergency Management Director Chad Larman reported that there were still some issues with the weather siren located on the roof of the new administration building.

Early Voting Opens Sept. 7

Early voting begins Thursday, Sept. 7, for voters in Pottawatomie County and ends Friday Sept. 9. The County Election Board, located at 330 N. Broadway, Shawnee, will be open 8 am to 6 pm on these dates for early voting.
Tecumseh Cheerleaders Addison Taron and David Lawrence, both sophomores, judge a 1949 GMC truck belonging to Larry Higgs of South Rock Creek at the Third Annual Tecumseh High School Cheer Booster Club Car Show on Aug. 26. Shawnee Moves To Second Phase Of Lake Dam Repairs

After roll call and before jumping into the nuts and bolts of the monthly City of Shawnee Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday, Aug. 21, Mayor Ed Bolt recognized BancFirst, SSM Health, and Shawnee Mills for their donations for the West Farrall welcome sign.
People of all ages enjoyed touring the Chinook Cargo Helicopter (CH47) F Model during Cops N’ Kids at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center on Aug. 26. Flown by U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 5 Mike McGill with the help of Flight Engineer First Sgt. Robert Calvert, the helicopter traveled from Lexington, OK, and tried to get to the event early so it wouldn’t cause havoc. The CH47 was the Cops N’ Kids Mystery Display this year.
