It was all hands on deck at the Pottawatomie County Election Board Tuesday, Aug. 8. Election Secretary Patricia Carter said water was pouring into the basement of the Election Board early Tuesday morning.

Bethel Upper Elementary Grades To Be In One Building

Bethel students and their teachers, grades third through fifth will start the new year in the brand new Bethel Upper Elementary. In the past, these grades have been separated into various buildings, by grade. The 20 month construction project is now complete and Superintendent Dr.
An office chair remains in the rubble which was once Pott. County Book & Office Supply at 109 E. Main in Shawnee. The building had its western wall blown out during the April 19 tornadoes. Then, its roof collapsed on July 3, and after closing that block, the city demolished the 116-year-old former Kress’s building on July 21. Pott. County Book & Office Supply had been in the building since 1983, and owner Terry Webb said, at this time, he doubts they will rebuild. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan

People of all ages enjoy the Shawnee Splash Water Park on July 29. Parks and Recreation Manager Kerri Foster said they have had 23,780 visitors so far, and there have been 31 lifeguards employed at the pool this season. The water park’s last day will be on Aug. 12, when they will open 1-5:30 pm, and hold their “Doggie Dip Day” from 6-7:30 pm. Foster said people bring their dogs from across the county and other counties to the annual canine swim before the pool is drained. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan
