This year, 2023, is the 15th anniversary of The West Law Firm (TWLF) Coat Donation Program with The Salvation Army (SA) of Shawnee. Since 2009, the firm has contributed 3,724 new coats (and related attire) for distribution through the SAAngel Tree Program.

April 2024 Elections Feature Contested Seats and Unopposed Winners

Four schools will hold elections for school board positions in April 2024. Candidates who filed for Shawnee Public Schools Seat 4 are John Ryan Grider and Amanda Hillhouse. A race for Asher Public Schools Seat 4 is between Jacob Cole and Teri Hamilton-Tulane.

OBU to Honor 80 Graduates During Winter Commencement

OBU will confer degrees upon undergraduate and graduate students during Winter Commencement Saturday, Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will take place at First Southern Baptist Church, 6400 S. Sooner Rd., Oklahoma City.

The Pottawatomie County Historical Society Light Show has moved outdoors this year, since they have installed a fence around the Paul and Ann Milburn Center.
