The new Casey's, at 837 N. Broadway in Tecumseh, donated $500 to the Tecumseh Volunteer Firefighters Association (TVFA) Fund on Nov. 17. The TVFA President Richard Getchius said they will use it for new equipment.

County Invests In Equipment

The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners is investing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds in new/upgraded equipment. Monday, Nov. 20 the board approved the purchase of a 2024 Chevrolet 3500 Silverado crew cab pickup ($53,219), a Kubota skid steer ($66,347.

Grinchmas Returns Nov. 30, Cocoa Corner, Train Rides Added

The Second Annual Grinchmas Holiday Parade and Marching Band Contest is coming early this year. It will be creeping down the streets of Tecumseh on Nov. 30, due to the Shawnee Parade’s date change to Dec. 8, said Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kimberly Elliott in an email.

34th Annual THS Pig Roast Reaches Record Numbers

About 300 people filled the W.P. Wood/THS Alumni Center, Nov. 17, for the annual Tecumseh High School FFA Pig Roast. This is the second year for the event to return since the COVID-19 pandemic, said Agricultural Education Teacher and FFA Advisor Mara Carman.

It took the jury less than an hour to find former Shawnee Assistant Athletic Director Ron Arthur guilty of soliciting sexual conduct and communication with a minor using technology. The jury recommended five years and a $3,500 fine.

Tecumseh Youth Sports Association Contract Renewed

The 2024 contract for the Tecumseh Youth Sports Association was approved at the Tecumseh City Council’s latest meeting on Monday, Nov. 13. The board thanked the Youth Sports Association for the “best report” that was submitted and continued efforts to make the park look good.
