Livestrong Program Graduates Form Strong Bonds

The six women honored at First United Bank’s Harrison branch in Shawnee on June 8 were already strong. They had all survived breast cancer, and one is still fighting. But together, they have formed bonds of friendship no one can break, making them stronger.

Summer Reading Program Kicks Off At The Park

Tecumseh Public Library has officially started its Summer Reading Challenge. The kick-off was held at Slick Humphrey Park on Thursday, June 1. Tinker Federal Credit Union sponsored free snow cones to those who signed up for the reading challenge.

Debris Removal Ends Soon

The City of Shawnee wishes to thank residents for their patience during the clean up process of the April 19 tornado. Also, a thank you for placing debris on the curb for pick-up. It is now time to prepare for the last day of debris removal from the curb.

County Offices Submit Annual Budget Requests

All state and federal inspections have been completed at the Pottawatomie County Jail. Breonna Thompson, the Executive Director at the county jail, introduced this during the weekly Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners meeting on Monday, June 5.

City Council Discusses Marijuana Use In City Park

Mayor Eddy Parker requested the Council discuss the use of marijuana in city parks, as he has received numerous complaints of strong marijuana smells from Tecumseh citizens. The Council agreed to look into adding new signage around the parks clearly banning the use of any marijuana products.

Tecumseh Preps Transition To Summer Schedules

High school sports never really rest, even in the summer and the Tecumseh Savages and Lady Savages have already begun and continue to ramp up with summer schedules. Tecumseh baseball, under Head Coach Easton Marrs, began last week with varsity baseball camp.
