Bethel Lady Wildcats End Season In State Semi-Finals

The Bethel Lady Wildcats State Quarterfinal tipoff with Alva was late on Thursday at the Big House when the National Anthem was delayed to get the sound system working. But the delay didn’t slow the Lady Wildcats as they got off to a fast start with lots of action up and down the floor.

The Dale Lady Pirates won state, 48-23, and their record for the season is 31-2. The 2022-2023 basketball season turned out to be a historic one for Dale as both the Pirates and Lady Pirates Basketball squads earned a place in the distinguished Dale High School Athletic Chronicles.

NRC Cougars Make First Appearance At The Big House

It’s an incredibly successful season when a high school basketball team ends its season at the Big House. But it’s even more incredible when that high school is in just its fifth year of existence and completes that fete.

Multiple Bethel Powerlifters Place In State Competition

Bethel Girls & Boys Powerlifting split up this week to take on tough fields for their respective State Powerlifting Meets. The Girls began the week by traveling to Choctaw Casino in Durant. Bethel was represented by two Junior High girls, Corley Steward and Stohri Reynalds.

Lady Savages Open Season With 15-0 Run Rule

The Lady Savages slow pitch team began the season 2-0 last week. Tecumseh opened at home on Monday with a 15-0 three inning run rule win over Seminole (see last week’s Countywide for the game story). On Tuesday, Tecumseh went to Prague and got caught up in a real slugfest.

Doubles Team Krush, Kuhn Take First Place

The Tecumseh High School tennis athletes competed at the Pauls Valley Tournament at Westwood on March 7 and the Shawnee Tennis Invitational on March 10. In Pauls Valley, the girls 2 Doubles team of Karsyn McDonald and Kayley Wood placed second.

Fire Heats Up For A 128-114 Win Over Lightning

Potawatomi Fire LITTLE ROCK, ARK — After a close battle for much of the game, the Potawatomi Fire pulled away in the fourth quarter and held off a tough challenge from the Little Rock Lightning to win 128114.

It was one day short of three weeks since Super Bowl 57, but on Sat., March 4, Jim Thorpe Stadium was full of fans young and old - cheering on their favorite football star.
