When Fran Topping was 14, she gazed at her grandmother’s photographs of her uncles in military uniform and wondered why there were no photos of women. It was then she decided to become that woman in uniform she wished to see. Life went on.

Thousands turned out for Tecumseh's Business Trick-or-Treat on Halloween, lining both sides of Broadway St. Candy was standard, but fruit was also popular. First United Bank gave out bananas for the second year, and Tecumseh Library had clementine oranges and temporary tattoos.

The Treeces made their first donation of eight adult sleeping mats, six pet mats, three child mats, 29 bags, one pillow, and two tarps to the St. Benedict's Catholic Church Community Breakfast on Oct. 22.
